Brooklyn Community Garden Grand Opening on March 20

Join the City of Hendersonville as we celebrate the grand opening of the Brooklyn Community Garden on Thursday, March 20, 2025, from 4:00 – 5:30 p.m. at 1055 Ashe St. Hendersonville, NC 28792.
After three years of fundraising, community building, and lots of planning and garden workdays, the Brooklyn Community Garden expansion and revitalization is near completion! The grand opening will begin with remarks from the community stakeholders who made the project possible, followed by a garden tour. This marks the first community garden for the City of Hendersonville and it will be a place for communal gathering and learning among all ages and mobilities.
“The Brooklyn Community Garden revitalization project has been a labor of love,” said Jane Grossman, Henderson County Master Gardener and Project Manager. “A collaborative effort between the city, non-profits, community organizations, and everyday volunteers, the dream of building Green Meadow's access to fresh food and a safe outdoor community space has become a reality.”
Highlights of the garden include:
- Pergola for community gatherings
- Blueberry house
- Garden beds including children’s area and ADA accessible beds
- ADA compliant path
- Pollinator plantings
The garden will also feature a special children’s garden as a tribute to environmental and community champion, Crystal Cauley.
