Residential Service Connections
Residential Connections
The City of Hendersonville installs new water and sewer residential tap connections to accessible water and sewer mains at the request of customers. Residential connections consist of the following:
- Single-family dwelling
- Two-family dwelling
Residential Tap Application
A standard residential water tap connection includes the following:
- Connection to the public water main
- Service piping to the edge of the private property line or utility easement limits
- Water meter and box for connection by private plumber
A standard residential sewer tap connection includes the following:
- Connection to the public sewer main
- Service piping to the edge of the private property line or utility easement limits
- Clean-out for connection by private plumber
In order for a residential connection to be approved, either of the following must be satisfied. If the either the following criteria is not satisfied, an extension of water and/or sewer is required for service.
- Property frontage to an existing public water and/or gravity sewer main
- Property within 300 feet of an existing public water and/or gravity sewer main and crossing only one other private property with acquisition of a private-party utility easement agreement
Residential Tap Process
- Applicant completes online residential tap application
- City staff approve (or deny) application and issue a Letter of Commitment
- Applicant completes new service application for account setup
- City issues bill to applicant for fees and charges
- Applicant pays applicable tap/meter fees and charges in full
- Services and meters are installed.
Tap and Connection Fees
- Tap and connection fees are based on the Fee Schedule in effect at the time of service application.
Residential Irrigation Connections
- Connections for residential irrigation purposes only may be requested on the residential tap application. Please note, all irrigation services are required to have Backflow Prevention.
