Police Department

The Hendersonville Police Department strives to serve with excellence and be a leader in 21st century policing.

About the Department

The Hendersonville Police Department is a nationally accredited law enforcement agency proudly serving the City of Hendersonville since 1847.

The department is divided into three bureaus, each supervised by a Captain:

Patrol Bureau: The Patrol Bureau consists of uniformed patrol, traffic enforcement, School Resource Officers, and Animal Enforcement.

  • Uniformed patrol officers provide 24-hour-a-day service, responding to emergency and non-emergency calls to assist residents, businesses, and visitors.
  • Traffic enforcement officers work to reduce accidents and traffic congestion by enforcing traffic laws, educating the public, and addressing community concerns about roadway safety. They also investigate traffic collisions and patrol community traffic complaint areas.
  • School Resource Officers (SROs) are stationed at Hendersonville Elementary, Bruce Drysdale Elementary, Hendersonville Middle and Hendersonville High schools to ensure a safe learning environment and respond to any law enforcement needs on campus.
  • Animal Enforcement is responsible for supporting City of Hendersonville community members by returning lost pets, providing education, responding to animal-related concerns and complaints, and enforcing laws and ordinances.

Criminal Investigations Bureau: The Criminal Investigations Bureau supports the Patrol Bureau by conducting follow-up investigations on felony and misdemeanor crimes. Staffed by detectives, this bureau gathers evidence, interviews witnesses, and builds cases to solve crimes. The bureau also includes a trained evidence technician, who manages the intake, storage, security, release, or disposal of evidence, found property, and items held for safekeeping.

Support Services: The Support Services Bureau includes Police Telecommunicators, Police Operations Specialists, and Parking Services.

  • Police Telecommunicators are certified telecommunicators who are the first point of contact for non-emergency and emergency police response within the City of Hendersonville and the Town of Laurel Park.
  • Police Operations Specialists manage all record-keeping duties and provide front counter service during business for all walk-in customers to the Police Department.
  • Parking Enforcement Officers educate the community on parking regulations and enforce parking ordinances to maintain accessibility and safety.
