Queen Bee and the Honeylovers Kick Off the June 20 Rhythm & Brews Concert Series 

HENDERSONVILLE, NC, June 7, 2024 – Get ready to swing into summer as Rhythm & Brews, presented by Horizon Heating & Air returns to South Main Street on Thursday, June 20. We are excited to announce that swing jazz band Queen Bee and the Honeylovers will take center stage, with Peggy Ratusz & Daddy LongLegs opening the show.  

On the third Thursday, June through October, these free outdoor shows ramp up downtown fun, complete with craft beverages, food trucks and kids’ activities. Also contributing to the presentation of this concert series are Norm’s Minit Mart, We Sell WNC, Parks Ford, Van Winkle Law Firm, BGW CPA, Rock Creek Containers, Yoga and Massage, and Joyce Windows, Sunrooms & Baths. Rhythm & Brews and the Friends of Downtown Hendersonville have also received generous support from the Henderson County Tourism Development Authority. 

As the premier live music series of Hendersonville, Rhythm & Brews brings in a variety of established acts as well as up-and-coming artists from around the region. Whether you love soul, rock, bluegrass or the funky stuff, this popular show will put a smile on your face and broaden your musical horizons. 

Queenbee and the Honey Lovers

Headliner: Queen Bee and the Honeylovers is a classic swing band performing toe tapping, all-original compositions. Their debut album, 'Asheville', celebrated their hometown's history and won them #41 on WNCW's listener-voted poll of Best Albums of 2019 as well as features on The State of Things with Frank Stasio and PBS Woodsongs. Moore formed Queen Bee and the Honeylovers with double bassist Trevor Stoia in late 2016.  

w/ Peggy Ratusz & Daddy LongLegs

Opening Act:Peggy Ratusz has been pulling from the cream of the Asheville music crop since moving here in 2002. Voted “Best in Blues” for 9 of the past 12 years and voted as Best Vocalist and Local Artist Who Gives Back. She’s opened for Tedeschi-Trucks Band, Geoff Atchison, Danielle Nicole Band, Karen Lovely, Taj Mahal and the Beach Boys. The dynamite ‘Daddy LongLegs’ joining her for this show includes the superlative skills of Kelly Jones on guitar and vocals, Taylor Pierson on keys, Justin Watt on drums and Zack Page on bass. From Traditional Blues and Swing to Rockin’ Blues and originals they set the stage on fire from slow ember to full alarm! 

Opening acts will kick off each evening at 5:30 p.m. followed by the headliner performance from around 7:30-9:30 p.m. Doors open at 5:15 p.m. 

For the youngest in the family, the Hendersonville Honeycrisps & the Hendersonville Toy Company Kid Zone will provide kid-friendly fun. Meanwhile, adults can enjoy downtown Hendersonville’s first fully integrated beer, cider and wine garden featuring locally crafted drinks from Sierra Nevada Brewing Co., Bold Rock Hard Cider, Guidon Brewing Co., Oklawaha Brewing Co., Dry Falls Brewery, Saint Paul Mountain Vineyards, and Flat Rock Cider Company. 

Please leave your pets and coolers at home. Chairs are allowed on the Wells Fargo side of the event near the Kids Zone. There are several free and paid parking options available near the show, with the closest paid parking in the private lot at Barnwell and Main (access only from King Street), and free on-street parking outside of Church and King Streets.  

All net proceeds from adult beverage sales will benefit the Friends of Downtown Hendersonville 501c3 nonprofit, whose mission is to identify, preserve and enhance the key factors that contribute to the authentic small town urban character of historic downtown Hendersonville. In recent years, the Friends of Downtown Hendersonville has supported downtown businesses with over $35,000 in direct business support through the façade and pivot grant programs.
