Environmental Sustainability Demonstration Station Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

The City of Hendersonville is excited to announce the ribbon cutting ceremony for the Environmental Sustainability Demonstration Station, set to take place on Saturday, July 20, 2024, at 10:00 AM. The ceremony will be held at the south end of the Hendersonville Farmer's Market located at 650 Maple Street.

This innovative initiative, spearheaded by the City of Hendersonville's Environmental Sustainability Board (ESB), will feature the City’s first small-scale community compost drop-off location. The station is designed to showcase various sustainability practices that community members can implement at home, with a strong emphasis on composting.

The event will include a statement from ESB board member, Virginia Tegel, about the inspiration behind the station and the importance of composting at home, a demonstration of how to use compost bins and rain barrels, and recognition of project supporters. Additionally, visitors will have the opportunity to sign up for volunteer opportunities and/or receive updates about the ESB’s work.
