Field Operations – Excavations, Preventive Maintenance and Facilities Maintenance
Purpose: The purpose of these divisions is to install and maintain a system to deliver safe drinking water to the customer's tap that meets or exceeds all state and federal safe drinking water regulations. We install and maintain a sanitary sewer collection system to provide a safe and economical means of transporting sanitary sewer to our treatment facility.
Responsibilities: This group is subdivided into three divisions as follows:
Excavations: This division operates a program of various water and sewer line replacements and repairs to ensure high-quality and reliable delivery of water and efficient conveyance of sewer. This division is also is responsible for installing water and sewer taps for new customers.
Preventive Maintenance: This division is responsible for maintaining over 683 miles of water mains and thousands of fire hydrants and valves within the City distribution system and over 180 miles of sanitary sewer lines. This division cleans and inspect sewer lines as necessary to prevent blockages and to eliminate inflow and infiltration.
Facilities Maintenance: This division is responsible for operating maintaining approximately 54-water pumping stations, 24-water storage tanks and 30-sewer pumping stations throughout the City's water distribution and sewer collections systems along with all communication systems associated with these facilities.
