NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

Thursday, October 3, 2024, at 5:45 p.m.

The City of Hendersonville City Council will hold a public hearing during their regularly scheduled meeting on Thursday, October 3, 2024, at 5:45 p.m., or as soon thereafter as it may be heard, in the Assembly Room of the City Operations Building located at 305 Williams St. Hendersonville, NC. 

The purpose of the public hearing is to consider the submission of a Community Development Block Grant Application for the FY 2024-25 funding cycle. The grant, a Neighborhood Revitalization Grant (CDBG-NR), is offered through the North Carolina Rural Economic Development Division of the Department of Commerce (REDD), and would be for the rehabilitation of four (4) homes owned by low-to-moderate income households located at the following addresses in the City of Hendersonville corporate limits: 221 Ashwood Road, 709 E Pace Street, 815 7^th Avenue W, and 1739 Clairmont Drive. Low to moderate households are those having a household income equal to or less than 80% of the area median income. The total estimated cost of all activities included in the grant application is $562,710.50, which includes an estimated $511,555.00 for home rehabilitation and $51,155.50 for administration costs.

The application would be submitted in partnership with the Housing Assistance Corporation (HAC), who would serve as the subrecipient of the grant funds. HAC would manage the rehabilitation projects on the homes. The grant would be administered by Land of Sky Regional Council (LOSRC). The public is invited to the October 3, 2024 public hearing to comment on the proposed grant application. After this public hearing, and if the City Council votes to proceed with the grant application, the City, HAC, and LOSRC will finalize the application for submission to REDD for consideration.
