911 Part Time
Applications are currently being accepted for part time 911 Police Dispatchers.
Part time 911 dispatchers work a set schedule and/or fill in for other employees as needed. The rate of pay is $15.33/hour.
This is an excellent opportunity for a person to get onboard and learn the job with the ability to get paid on a part time basis with the possibility of full time work at a later date.
Requirements:
Applicants should be able to work in a fast pace work environment and be capable of doing many things simultaneously. There are times you will encounter life and death situations, so you should be mentally capable of dealing with pressure and stress. Applicants should also be mature and quick witted and have the ability to stay calm under pressure. Applicants must be completely computer literate, as most of our work is computer oriented. Applicants must be a U.S. citizen, and must have a high school diploma or G.E.D.
Duties:
Duties are as follows: Answering routine and emergency (911) telephone calls. Gathering information such as what, when, who, where, why. Entering data into a computer dispatching system. Dispatching Police units by radio to routine and emergency calls. Answering Police units as they perform traffic stops, call in other calls for service, warrant checks, and other tasks. You must obtain certification to use State information systems.
Benefits:
Reserve dispatchers are not eligible for City benefits. If a reserve dispatcher is hired later for a full-time position, then benefits will be included, such as retirement, health insurance, vacation / holiday / sick time, etc.
Training:
Most all of the training is done here at the department. The general training period is about 500 hours. Training will occur on a part time basis and will be spread over different shifts.
