Market Operations Continue During Streetscape:

The Market will occur alongside the 7th Avenue Streetscape project. This long-anticipated investment in the district involves new sidewalks, lighting, and landscaping, as well as water, sewer, and stormwater infrastructure improvements. Recommended parking locations include Maple Street (accessed from 5th Avenue), 5th Avenue, the Henderson County Courthouse, and any of the Public Parking Lots around Main Street. Follow the ‘Bee-Line’ painted sidewalk for a quick and easy walk to Maple Street and enjoy the Market.

What to Expect on an Average Market Saturday

Visitors can expect a lively atmosphere celebrating food, farm and family with live music every Saturday! At least 30 vendors from within a 60-mile radius participate in each market, offering produce, meat, eggs, dairy, honey, baked goods, crafts, beverages, and more. Special events such as Tomato Day, Wellness Day and Juneteenth Celebration will occur at the market regularly throughout the season. Food trucks will also be a staple, allowing visitors to enjoy breakfast or lunch on their farmers market adventure.

Token Currency System and SNAP/EBT Double SNAP Program

All vendors will accept cash payment, and some will accept cards or other payment services such as Venmo or PayPal. Because not all vendors have a card reader, we have a token system so customers don't have to worry about bringing cash to shop with their favorite vendors.

  • $5 Tokens: Customers can purchase $5 tokens with credit or debit cards at the Information Booth (AmEx not accepted).  All vendors at the market will accept $5 tokens just as if it were a $5 bill. Vendors will give cash change when needed. A 2.95% processing fee is incurred by the customer on $5 token purchases (less than most ATM fees!).
  • $1 SNAP Tokens (with green rim): Hendersonville Farmers Market is a food stamp (SNAP/EBT) retailer with Double SNAP support from MountainWise  and the City of Hendersonville. This means we are able to MATCH dollar for dollar any EBT spending at the market (i.e., if you purchase $10 in tokens on your EBT card, we give you $20 in $1 SNAP tokens).  $1 SNAP tokens are good for most food items: fruits, vegetables, dairy products, meats, seeds, baked goods to be taken home, and plants intended for growing food. $1 SNAP tokens are NOT GOOD FOR: non-food items, ready-to-eat foods, hot foods. By law, change may not be given for purchases with $1 SNAP tokens. Vendors are asked to bring the purchase total to a whole dollar value.
